Ever Thought About Quitting Smoking
Sapphire Clinic aims to give the best health care to our patients, with this in mind we keep an eye out for innovative models of care that can help our patients. This year we want to see if we can provide a more effective way to help those wanting to beat the smoking habit.
We are taking part in a research project which will give you proven information, support, and access to medication to tackle smoking.
In the program you will be working with a group of fellow smokers, the doctor is not there to add to your stress or make you feel guilty, their role is to provide the best and latest information and to facilitate access to medications where appropriate.
The research part of the project will look at the effectiveness of delivering the program in a group format called shared medical appointments.
In a shared medical appointment model you will get both an information session run by an allied health professional AND each participant of the group will be able to discuss their issues with the doctor so that their care is individualised.
Shared medical appointments provide a supportive environment and have proven to be more fun for participants than conventional care. We will run the program on Thursday afternoons over 5 weeks, the first course will commence 21st March.
